Prayer, Love, Food…In That Order

We could say that our mission is to give food to the needy in our community, but that really wouldn’t describe what we do or what we are passionate about. At House of the Harvest we have several passions and food isn’t really one of them. But if you are interested in our mission, we would love the opportunity to explain it to you.

First of all, we believe that all of us are children of God. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what you have done, or even what current state you are in. If you are here, God still has a plan for you and we want to help you become the best possible version of yourself. Maybe you need food today, or maybe a place to feel welcome and loved…either way, that’s what we are here for. Our goal, no matter where you are, is to point you to the Trinity…Father, Son, and Spirit. The source of real abundant life. Priority One - Prayer. When you come, someone will offer prayer with you. If they don’t, just ask. It’s what we love the most.

Second of all, we believe that spirituality is measured by your ability to love, and especially to love those who are different than you. Jesus taught that. So at House of the Harvest, our goal is to show such an uncommon expression of love to our community that it’s obvious we are followers of Jesus. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

And finally, food is what we offer…well, at least as far as tangible things. We strive to offer much more than that. Love. Relationship. Prayer. Guidance. Influence. Example. Food is what brings us together. It’s why people come and it’s what we do. But, hopefully, this explains…we care about way more than that.
